We really liked the house and garden, it
was spacious even for the six of us.
All the beaches we tried were very good
with plenty of free parking, and Paimpol is lovely. The zoo at Tregomeur was
very good and reasonably priced. We were amazed at the lack of litter both
at the beaches and in fact anywhere we went. It's such a problem in the UK.
We found all the instructions regarding
the journey, finding the house and the keys spot on, and the general
information about the house and the area very helpful. It could not be
improved on.
We all had an excellent holiday and really
liked the cottage and the village of Yvias. It was the first time we’d
taken our 2 boys abroad (2yrs and 5yrs) and they had a great time.
The cottage, with the big enclosed gardens, was perfect for them. Their
holiday highlights seemed to be the ferry and the basketball courts in the
village though!
The cottage itself was just what we were
after and seemed to have all the facilities we could want.
The area was also really nice, something
different to the coast where we live .... we’ll certainly be back.

La
Carniche was excellent and we enjoyed it to the full…We explored a wide
range of beaches and the only daily issue was whether or not we had "beach
weather". We were perhaps a little unlucky in that, after a few
initial warm days, it stayed overcast most of the three weeks. However, the
temperature stayed pretty warm and we were able to enjoy regular outdoor
sessions in the Paimpol cafes.
There are
many nice beaches within easy driving range. Our favourite was Plage
Bonaparte which is very good for bathing and beach games (firm, flat
sand) with some rock pools as well. Go under the main road between St Brieuc
and Paimpol then to Prehedel then Lanloup. Turn right when you reach the
crossroads at Lanloup then left at the sign Stele Bonaparte after passing
the sign Le Dernier Sou and drive straight down to the car park. There are
also several other decent beaches further down the coast.
We have
been renting holiday houses for at least a dozen years and La Carniche was
ideal for us. The boys loved the garden, we loved the terrace and the
interior suited us very well. We were very well pleased with the kitchen
facilities and everything went smoothly with the help of your admirable
information package.
We
really had a wonderful holiday and I think it was the most relaxing we have
had as a family.
The house is excellently located for visiting the northern coast of
Brittany and its various ports particularly Paimpol and the like. We
enjoyed the house which is well equipped and fitted our purpose.
I would think that the garden would be ideal for young children in the
summer as would the rear terrace.
We visited the northern coast and ate out every day. The area is also
interesting for its connection with wartime activities such as Plouha and
the various memorials record these activities. There are some
interesting walks available.
We have had a great two weeks in Yvias, it was a shame the weather was not a
little better but as there are so many attractions in the area it did not
spoil our holiday at all and we still had some lovely days on the beach. The
house was wonderful and we were all very comfortable staying there.
The
beach we most frequently visited was Palus Plage as it had restaurants,
toilets and a children's park opposite so was great for us, it was also very
easy to park there. We also went to a lovely beach in Binic and thought the
market in Binic was brilliant.
We visited two animal parks which were all very enjoyable and good value for
money. On one of our "rainy days" we visited the Oceanopolis centre which
the children really enjoyed. We also went on the steam train from Paimpol
which was great. On our final day a Circus came into Paimpol which was the
icing on the cake for the children. Another great day out was when we did a
day trip to Ile de Brehat.
I love the house, obviously - I bought it!
La Carniche is in a quiet rural village, yet so close to the busy harbour
town of Paimpol, with its great shopping!
My personal recommendations for shopping are:
Carrefour hypermarché - you can buy anything and everything here, and just 5
minutes away.
Plouha market - Wednesday mornings - the best in the area. It is of course
entirely incidental that my grandmother was born in Plouha, and was baptised
in the church around which the market takes place!
