Sat 2nd April
2011, Winter preps done and season
Ready to go!,
After Having to have rules to run too
for the sports Libre special saloons as required by the
M.S.A so we are covered by insurance,(last year the rules
were efectivly suspended) the sports libre saloons upto
1400/1800 and 1800 and over classes got rule 12.4.1 made
excempt (that is that you are now allowed to cut the
chassis for the purpose of Tunnels for gearboxes eg rally
cars and cut in boxes for panard rods in escort 5 link
setups ext "as this was a sticking point with the M.S.A
last year"on alot of cars that race and have floor mods
in saloon classes, This satisfied the M.S.A So the rules
were implemented as proposed at the agm in January 2011)
,This ruling did not effect Tims mini as it has all the
Unitry constructed chassis intact anyway but enabled all
the other saloons in the sports libre classes to have
rules thus insurance in case of an accident, The Sprint
itself was windy with approx 10-20 mph winds gusting Tim
got down to 13.75 and was well pleased with this result
for the 1st shakedown of the year,
Monday 25th April
2011, Easter Hill
and the 1st hill of the Year was a
cracker for tim , not only Being the 1st person to break
a record this year with a 35.08 on his 1st timed run but
Tim managed to be the 1st Mini ever to go under 35
seconds on the hill and in the prosses clocking a
fantastic 34.88 and Beating Simon Wards
long Standing Time of 34.90, this time having been
the fastest front wheel drive time ever recorded up the
hill, Too top it all off Tim managed to be the fastest
Tin top on the Day! This has to be the best start to a
season ever and gives tim great hope for the other events
this year!!!!
Monday 2nd May
2011, Bank holiday hill and after
a practice of 36.90 seconds it was a 36.26 on the 1st
timed run and then the hevens opened and that was the end
of that!, fingers crossed next bank Holiday will be
better :-)
Monday 30th May
2011, Weather was a bit drizzley
at times but held off long anought to do a 36.35 and only
after we had to replace a brocken drive joint, 1st timed
run Tim broke his steering arm by clipping the bank just
over the finnish line, but not before setting a new record
as he went over the line and into said bank,New record
35.14 seconds.
The Guernsey National
Hill climb! was with out a doubt
the wettest hill for some time but fun was had in the
rain a cool 42 second run got Tim second against a ford
puma cosworth 4 wheel drive turbo rally cross car fom the
u.k! ,It was only 2 seconds or so quiker then Tim so You
could say he put up a fair fight against a 600bhp puma
!
