The rally itself

Starts in St Malo on the 27th September finishing on the 4th October at this years Munich Oktoberfest

Final registration

Uk and Jersey entries will be expected to meet at the harbour in St Malo (time to be confirmed) where their final registration will be processed.

Dump You Banger

All vehicles that need to be scrapped in Munich will be given a location to get rid of the banger on the morning of the 5th October. If your flying back make sure you book an afternoon flight this will enable you to scrap your car and still have time to get to the airport. We will endeavour to help where ever possible by providing various information on deals with airlines, trains and ferries. You may choose to do all that yourself.

Entry Fees

Entry fees for Rust Bucket Rally 2009 will be £200 per banger and this is none refundable. This is for a maximum of 4 persons per car. Cheques should be made payable to Aid Reaching Children and once they have cleared your registration will be confirmed your will then be issued your rally number and your team will be put on to the Team page of the website as confirmation. You will receive a starter pack once your registration has been confirmed.

Sponsorship

All entry fees will go directly to Aid Reaching children. All sponsorship money raised this year will go towards local school Vale Infants/Juniors, who are trying to raise £37,000 towards new play equipment for their play ground. We would like to encourage you all to raise £100 each towards this appeal so that we can help them achieve their goal. Please ask companies to sponsor each panel of your car to help towards this appea.

Theme/Paint job

Make sure you give your banger a great paint job, all cars will have a theme of your choice, although we would like to keep it a bavarian theme to get you in the mood. This will add to the fun that’s in store for you. A prize will be awarded to the best overall theme taking the banger and occupants into account. The prize will be judged on originality and for whichever team stays in their costumes for the whole rally.

Ferries

We will be negotiating with several ferry companies to get the best deals for your trip to France and will update you as to any deals we have secured nearer the time.

Accommodation

This is your choice. Most people on the rally last year camped but as this is later in the year you may wish to book a hotel, or you can sleep in your vehicle providing its big enough. Most service stations have shower facilities. We will be able to provide you with names of hotels and B&B's and campsites nearer the time. At this time of year for the beer festival there are a lot of cheap hotels in close proximity to the actual festival itself. We are trying to make this rally as cheap as possible for you, plus it all adds to the fun.

Support

The catch is, there isn’t any. This is your responsibility you have to look after yourself. If you break down though make sure that if you have to dump the car this is done correctly please make sure you take your V5 (log book) you will need these documents to dump the banger. Rustbucket Rally organizers will cooperate with authorities to help trace the owners/drivers of abandoned cars who are participants of the rally .
