 THE EARLIEST THOUMINES.

Through the use of the Livres de Perchage (a property census taken in 1591, 1646, 1727, 1767, 1822 etc) for the Clos du Valle, the Thoumine family can be traced back to

Renoubet whose children were all baptised in the Town Church between 1572 & 1583.  He may have had others but the index  of the early registers (which are the earliest

in the island) do not show more.  The godparent for Pierre baptised in 1575 was Arnomier Thoumine but no further mention of him as been found.  Other godparents of

the children of Renoubet definitely have Vale names.

In the Carey notebooks at the Priaulx library on the Falla family, an even earlier mention is made of ‘Anthoyne Daumaille son of Guille a cause de sa femme Johene, fille de

Renounet Thoumine’ with a date of August 1552.  Even if Johene was married at the age of 20, this Renounet Thoumine must have been born presumably before 1512.

The name is mentioned again in another book ‘27 Apr 1553 … le Camp du Courtil de la Hure belonging to Regnonvet Toumyne’.
