During world war 2 the Germans made good use of obsolete world war 1 French Renault FT 17 light tanks by removing the turret and emplacing them as static defences in the Atlantic Wall.
Other FT 17 turrets used included 8mm Hotchkiss machine gun, 37mm anti-tank gun and a turret without any armament as an observation point.
