MIND Centre Building April 2007 |
Provision of funds to facilitate the rebuilding of the MIND Centre. The photos below show the demolition of the existing building in readiness for work to commence on the new building.
Above are the Architects Drawings for the new MIND centre.

2nd Guernsey Scout Group June 2007 |
The Club provided £13,000 towards the £120.000 project to build the new scout hut which replaced a very old wooden hut. This will allow the scout group to complete the fitting out of the new building. The Lions club have previously supported the group with financing the floor for the adjacent hall in 2003.
The photographs above show the hut, Lion President Brian Allen presenting the cheque for £13,000 to the Scout Group's Treasurer, members of the cub scouts with members of the Lions Club inside one of the two main rooms and (l to r) Welfare Chairman Lion Tim Falla, Lion President Brian Allen and the Scout Group Treasurer together with some of the Cub Scouts.

OAP's Party February 2009 |
Every February the Club holds a party primarily for those senior citizens who live alone or are housebound. This year's event one hundred and sixteen people attended for a two course lunch including a pre dinner drink, a game of Bingo and then all taken home with a box of sweet biscuits donated by Checkers (a local supermarket chain). The dinner was again held at The Peninsula Hotel.
The pictures (L to R top to bottom) above show and some of the senior citizens enjoying their lunch, , Hotel Staff serving the meal, President Paul helping mark the Bingo Cards, Lion Dave Marquand and Welfare Chairman Lion Larry Trigwell with two young assistants calling the Bin go and another table marking their Bingo cards..

Senior Citizens Variety Concert 24th May 2009 |

Welsh Choir |
The Mynydislwyn Male Voice Choir who sang on the Saturday raising funds on behalf of the Lions Club then gave a free concert for the Elderly at the Peninsula Hotel on the Sunday at which 130 or so attended.

SPEKTREK March 2009 |
The Annual event to collect spectacles which are sent to the UK to be
added to those collected by other clubs in the district. The spectacles
are then graded and eventually find their way to third world countries to
provide spectacles to those in need. Collection boxes are provided at
Doctor's Surgeries and Opticians throughout the Island. Spectacles are
also handed directly to members of the Lions Club. The collected
spectacles were packed and despatched to UK complements of Condor Ferries.

Provision of £26,000 to provide new floor for community
Centre.

Special Bikes Presentation June 2007
|
Over the last 15 year or so the club has funded in excess of 20 special
bikes for both children and adults. These bikes are passed on from owner
to owner as the rider outgrows it. Virtually all of the bikes are still in
use a testament to their durability and the loving care of the recipients.
The photographs below show the latest additions to the fleet handed over
to their owners at the Le Rondin Centre.
The photographs show (l to r) final adjustments to the bikes to ensure it fits the rider, the manufacturers (WRK Cycles of Kings Lynn) of the special bikes together with their top of the range model due to be delivered to the home of its new owner and President Brian Allen, parents and the proud riders. The red bike has been converted to a quad bike whilst the blue is a completely new quad bike.
