Club Activities and Membership

What the club does and what membership is all about:

The club meets every Tuesday night at present to climb either indoors out outdoors depending on weather and daylight hours.  In winter we meet at the 'Help a Guernsey Child' wall at the Scout headquarters at Les Mainguys and use the indoor wall there, in summer we climb on the local crags.  Indoor evenings start at 7pm or and finish around 9pm, outdoor climbing starts at 5:30 ~ 6pm and finishes when it gets dark or the tide comes in!

Membership fees:-
£20 per year for adults, £15 per year for juniors/unemployed/OAPS which covers affiliation to the BMC and club funds for equipment/training.  An additional charge of £3.50 is added for a session at the HAGC wall as we have to pay the Scout Association for use of the wall.

Restrictions:-
The club does not take on disabled members as the local crags are totally unsuited to taking disabled climbers.  The minimum age is 16, and parental permission is needed for members under 18.  The club will only take on novices in the winter as it's easier and safer to teach them all the skills they need indoors before getting onto the crags.  If you are a novice it is recommended that you contact the club first before turning up.  If you are a proficient belayer (double ropes, italian hitch etc.), can abseil, stop and ascend your own rope with prussiks then you are quite welcome to join at any time.
