About the Guernsey Horse Driving Society

 

 

Founded in 1970 the objects of the Society are:

 

*       To encourage and assist persons of all ages interested in the driving of horses and ponies;

*       To promote the general interest of horse drivers by events, competitive or otherwise, by meetings, discussions and tuition and to co-operate with any society or other authority to this end;

*       To act as the governing body to whom Show Committee can refer for guidance in framing conditions for harness classes other than those controlled by kindred societies;

*       To encourage and assist in the preservations of horse drawn vehicles, harness and use thereof.

 

The term ‘horse’ as it applies to the activities of the Society shall include horses, ponies, donkeys and, at the discretion of the Committee, any animal properly and humanely used for the drawing of vehicles and farming equipment.
