VETERANS’ LEAGUE

DECEMBER 2005

The final round of this season’s Veterans’ League saw league leader, Elaine Ellington, in top form, winning four of her five fights and only losing the fifth on sword-point. This gave her a total of 24 hits gained over the evening out of a possible maximum 25.

Second and third places went to Wendy Batiste and Linda Jones, who both had three victories and had to be separated by indicators. Both gained 19 hits, but Jones conceded 18 hits whereas Batiste conceded 17, giving her second place .

Fourth and fifth places also had to be decided by indicators. Sarah Collenette and Sue Corbet both had two victories, but indicators gave Collenette fourth place and Corbet fifth. Sue Martel placed sixth with one victory.

These final round scores give overall results for the season:

1 st – Ellington (31 points) – gold medal and The Walking Stick Trophy

2 nd – Martel (24 points) – silver medal

3 rd – Batiste (21 points) – bronze medal

4 th – Jones (21 points)

Although Batiste and Jones finished with equal points the medal was decided by the higher placing during the season. Batiste’s highest placing was second, whereas Jones’s highest placing was third.

5 th – Collenette (18 points)

6 th – Corbet (14 points)

7 th – Tracey Moore (8 points)

8 th – Chris Mahy (3 points)
