Fourth Mixed Foil League 2009/10

Ross Martel put himself in the driving seat when he dominated League One, with a sparkling display of Foil Fencing at its best. He won all his five fights and had the impressive hits count of 25-4. Only four of his opponent’s managed a single hit against him and the fifth got none!

In his fourth competition of this seven round competition, he has scored 398 out of a possible 400 and his nearest opponent Meyrick Simmonds is on 391. In third place is Adam Bonner on 385. In this competition with only the best five scores to count it is difficult to see how anyone can overtake him barring a couple of catastrophes.

First woman on the score sheet is Sue Martel on 357, with second placed Julie Dyer breathing down her neck on 349. Third placed woman is Rosie Milner on 332.

In League One Martel dominated to win. Henry Wallis however put in the best performance of his fencing career to come second with four victories. Third was Attila Stanitz with three wins. Fourth was Meyrick Simmonds. Andy Ozanne and Anthony Shilito were both relegated to division two next month.

Marcel de Garis won division two with four straight wins pushing Luke Milner into second place. Both will fence in the top division next month. Julie Dyer retains her place with Sue Martel and Carol Wood suffering relegation.

Georgie Lindsay narrowly won Division three with the first three competitors winning three fights each. It took the count of hits to separate them. James Aldous-Granby took the next coveted promotion spot with Paul Gregory having to be content with third place. Wendy Batiste and Alex Wilson were relegated.

Division four was narrowly won by Jack Miller. He pushed Anna Miller into second place. Both had four victories and will fence in a higher division next month. Abbie Chamberlain, Blake Batiste and Andrew Le Tissier finished in that order.
