Mixed Foil League February 2009

French Software engineer Florent Boyer won the league for the month of February. This 22 year old from Beziers has been knocking at the door with a sixth in November 2008 and a fourth in January of this year. Overall however Rupert Sewards is still the favourite to win the title, though he could only manage 3 rd place this month. Luckily for him however his nearest rival Atilla Stanitz could only manage to get to the fourth place. Sewards is on 497 out of a possible 500. Stanitz has 487 in second place and Meyrick Simmonds is third on 478.

The leading woman is Rosie Milner with 476, second woman is Julie Dyer on 436 and third is Daisy Stevens on 435.

Division one was a close fought affair. Florent Boyer won four fights to tie with Matthew Hale on wins. Boyer however had a superior hits difference of +9 to Hale’s +3. Third with three wins was Rupert Seward the reighning champion. Attila Stanitz was fourth with three wins. Marcel de Garis & Harry Miller with a single victory each were relegated.

Pierre Ozanne won Division two narrowly with four wins; he narrowly defeated Meyrick Simmonds into second place but had a margin of three hits better. Jamie de Cartaret & Rosie Milner stay in this division next month both with 2 wins. An unlucky Julie Dyer also on 2 wins was relegated along with Henry Wallis.

Nico Ozanne won division three with four wins out of five. Three fencers then tied on 3 wins each and Andy Higgs gained the promotion spot with a superior hits difference over third place Andy Ozanne and Ben Inderwick who stay put next month. Martin Craig & Luke Milner were relegated.

Pool 4 was a totally female pool as luck would have it. Georgie Lindsay won it with 3 wins out of four. She is promoted with Carol Wood also on three wins. Gail Childs stays in the division with Wendy Batiste and Fenella Gladstone dropping a division next month.

Thomas Dorey dominated division five with five straight wins. Matthew Ashworth gains promotion with him. Paul Rowlinson, Sue Martel, Anna Miller and Becky Ashworth finished in that order.
