Sue started fencing in 1997 as a “veteran novice” – and this girl who at school used to volunteer for extra Latin if it meant getting out of games, had at last found a sport she enjoyed!

She was a SSC committee member from 1999 to 2002, including a couple of years as secretary. She then took a year or seven out of committee work, although she continued as competition secretary and Beginners’ contact. She stood for reelection to the committee in 2009.

Sue was awarded Club Colours in 2003 and competed in the Commonwealth Veteran Championships 2009.
