Grammarlogue 2005

In April 2004, a group of talented Grammar School GCSE music students decided to form a group, basing their music on the style of jazz artists such as Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. They came up with name 'Eight-In-A-Bar'. The members of the group are as follows, along with the instruments that they play:
| Tom Claxton | Clarinet / Alto Saxophone |
| Matt Sharp | Trumpet |
| Emma Shires | Tenor Saxophone |
| Matt Bowditch | Trombone |
| Seb Grand | Piano |
| Josh Cottam | Drums |
| Matt Nichols | Semi-Acoustic Guitar |
| Phil Stevens | Bass Guitar |
They decided that because of the enjoyment they gained from performing as a group, they would stay together and see what the future would hold. They were honoured to be invited to play at the Tsunami fundraising concert at St James, where they really domonstrated their enthusiasm, resulting in one the best performances to date.
However, in February 2005 the group performed very successfully at the Eisteddfod, picking up the Miriam R. Le Page Prix d'Honneur Trophy for, in the adjudicator's opinion, the most memorable performance during the whole music section. The performance gained them an astonishing 92 marks.
So what does the future hold for the group? Before the Eisteddfod, they had been playing on average one gig a month, but this is ever increasing as word has spread. They will happily play at parties and concerts, and even weddings. The future looks healthy for the talented group.
