Most doctors and dentists are in private practice and patients are required to pay for treatment. You will be asked to pay for any treatment by a GP. This can be at a surgery, at a temporary residence or in the Accident and Emergency Department at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, as these services are provided by GP's in private practice. However, the Reciprocal Health Agreement only provides for immediately necessary treatment ie. urgently needed treatment for conditions which may arise during your stay. The acute hospital in Guernsey is the Princess Elizabeth Hospital (PEH) which is operated by the Board of Health. Hospital accommodation and medical services are provided free of charge to visitors from the UK under the Reciprocal Health Agreement. There is a charge for the ambulance service. Medical Insurance is recommended. Back to Top |
