DECEMBER
St Peter Port is the ideal location for a spot of Christmas shopping. It is both inexpensive and enjoyable with its picturesque streets and lanes. Shoppers will have a field day, as Guernsey levies no VAT on purchases. If you are looking for luxury gifts like jewellery, perfume or cosmetics there are plenty of bargains to be found. There are shops of every size and description, from local department stores with familiar brand names to small boutiques specialising in High Street fashions.
Christmas lights and decorations are illuminated at the start of December and late night shopping becomes a regular event on Thursday evenings when the festivities really start with a multitude of entertainment including carol singing, music and hot chestnuts. The nearby harbour of St Sampsons in the north of the Island also has late night shopping. Other events include Christmas shopping trips to the island of Herm.
Enjoy the fun of the festive season with a Christmas or New Year break at one of our hotels many offer special rates for a break full of festive cheer!
And Finally Whichever of the 12 months that you choose to visit Guernsey in, you are always assured of a very warm welcome
