The island of Sark is situated between Guernsey and Jersey
and lies about 80 miles from the english south coast.
It is about 3.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. The main means of transport are cycles and horse drawn carriages.

Cars are not permitted on the island but, tractors are
used for carriage of goods and pulling the "bus" up the
steep harbour hill.

For peace and quiet, superb scenery, and walking opportunities Sark is a virtual paradise. Cliff top views
are everywhere to be enjoyed. A trip round the island
in a horse drawn carriage is well worth while.

For garden lovers the Seigneurie boasts wonderful displays
of roses and a vast variety of plants, as well as a children's
maze. There also guided walks round some of the private
gardens on the island.

Commercial moorings are available for boat owners, and a boat
trip round the island with a local boatman is very rewarding.

The Avenue (Sark's shopping centre) has a Post Office
general store, newsagent, hairdresser, and a non-dispensing
chemist. Currency on the island is Guernsey money, but
english and euro is also accepted. Two banks are Nat West
and HSBC. There are no cash machines on the island.

Vistor's luggage will be carried to the accommodation for
a nominal fee of £1 per case.

A Doctor is available at the Medical Centre, but there is no N.H.S.
on Sark. Health Insurance is recommended
